The damage parents are doing to kids these days is total insanity. We see every Christmas, at what lengths they will go, to purchase the latest fad to hit the market, so that the precious bundle of joy, will not be disappointed.
And so it goes with the latest craze, as parents are paying anywhere from several hundred to several thousand for concert tickets to Hannah Montana. And how many of these parents can really afford to pay those prices?
Take my word for it, a simple NO will work. They may hold their breath and stomp their feet. But they will grow up to be normal if you use it often enough.

Part of the fun of being an adult -- and I'm really serious about this -- is getting to tell your friends and your own kids how hard you had it when you were a kid. Parents today are depriving future adults of this pleasure. I'm with you, Pelmo, just say no and give the future gift of some mild suffering tomorrow's adults can be proud of.
Your right Joe, I get a kick out of telling the young ones about all the aerobic exercise I got; by having to get up to change the channel or adjust those rabbit ears.
If you have enough money to go buy these Hannah Montana concert tickets, then do something good with the money, like invest it for their college education. That is something that will last a lifetime, not just one night.
I took every penny my kids got for birthdays, Christmas and such and would put it in a bank account. When all three were ready to buy a house I gave them the money. They were quite thrilled to have such sizeable down payments for their homes.
They do the same for the grandkids. I would rather give them clothes or a small gift and the rest in a check; rather then spending it on things they don't really want or need.
