THE END IS NEAR

It was bad enough that Chicago had to suffer all these years with the Rev. Jesse(I knows lots of big words) Jackson. Now a blaring headline in the Chicago Sun-Times has ruined my day, as the other blabbering idiot from New York ( Rev. Al Sharpton) is planning to set up shop here.

What have we done so bad here that we are going to have to endure this tag team of Reverends Al and Jesse?

I feel sorry for you. The nice thing about not living in a big city is that the Reverands trying to become national figures don't even think about us.

When I was in college I experienced Jesse Jackson visiting our campus (I think he was actually running for President then or something?) and I have to say, the guy has some charisma, and he is the only person I know who has memorized the complete Rhyming Dictionary.

Yep, these guys are clearly opportunists and annoying, and it's a pain that whatever they decide to focus on gets a firestorm of publicity, but in comparison to Bush and Cheney, it's nice to just be annoyed by some annoying clown-like politician preachers...almost a welcome break from reading about Rove and Bush and Cheney over in the other corner making spitballs out of our Constitution.

The mute button should engage automatically just as soon as any of those mouths open up on TV.

It's a shame that anyone of these people are taken seriously.

I also heard Jesse Jackson speak in college (we got extra credit for a linguistics class if we identified 5 different examples language devices he used) -- anyway, he was quite charismatic.

His main points were to stop being paranoid and that Iraq and Al Queda had nothing to do with each other (it was 2002. He also wanted to insure that we had all registered to vote. I think well over 100 students register to vote that day.

I realize he can really be an awful lot of hot air, but I was impressed by the voter registration drive.

I'm not really sure why Sharpton is coming here. I read the article and Jesse Jackson seems unsure, as well. Do you think he may try to run for mayor?

And I am shure quite a few would vote for him if he ran.
It's bad enough we have Stroger messing up the county, we don't need somebody messing up the city.
