I DON'T BELIEVE IT

During this whole Michael Vick fiasco, I cannot believe how many times the term "he is such a gifted athlete" has been used to excuse his actions. How dare they do this to him.

If your a gifted athlete, your allowed to do anything you want. I was going to exclude murder, but it seems that falls in the realm also.

After hearing some of the comments of how he is being persecuted by the media and the public, I am surprised the pope hasn't canonized him for Sainthood yet.

After reading commentaries from the hungry hero worshiping sports fans, Vick would have been smarter to face a jury of his peers. I firmly believe this jury would have found the prosecuters guilty of picking on this "gifted athlete", and sent them off to prison instead.

You should stop watching tv. Too many idiots.

I had an extensive bar-versation about this topic, and the consensus was:

1. What kind of sicko DOES that?

2. Number one aside, if you have a bajillion dollar pro football contract, why in the name of all that is holy would you jeopardize it by organizing dogfights in your own backyard>

3. And finally, where were his friends and family? Why didn't someone in his entourage take responsibility so he could continue to make money? Why didn't someone slap him upside the head and say, "How stupid is you"?

Very well put.

Athletes have their asses kissed from high school on. Just like politicians and their advisers; after a while they feel they are teflon coated and nothing will stick to them.

Pelmo,

A report late Thursday night has Vick pleading guilty to Interstate commerce of dogfighting. He will maintain his innocence in killing of dogs and betting on dogfighting. If that is the plea deal, then I don't want the government to accept. Go to trial and convict his ass on the things that he did and that witnesses are prepared to testify in court.

This is a B.S. plea, and celebrity will still get Vick a much lighter sentence than he deserves.

If they let him plead to that, our judicial system is one big joke as far as I am concerned.
